OMg, my grandmother takes this and it makes her absolutely the worst person you would EVER want to be around. She gets mean, tells people rude and horrible things and then yells and screams at us for no apprent reason. I am 28yrs old and have 2 kids, full time job and going to college, i don't need the drama this medication brings to our family. she says its the only thing keeping her sane, but many of us feel that she is the opposit on this drug. It should not be allowed to be taken by depressed individuals, and a phyc. test be done randomly. She was taking up to 6 per day of the 10mg. This has changed my grandmother from a 'all natural foods +healing " person to a drug popping idot that 'needs' to take it in order to deal with day to day activities. HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. TOOOO EASILY PRESCRIBED.
I am 50 years old and have been on this drug for about two years. I started taking it for insomnia and found that it greatly lessened my anxiety attacks. Before taking Lorazapam (Ativan), I would sit at work and spend hours plotting my own death. Now, as long as I take .5mg regularly, I can work without the distraction of suicidal thoughts or anxiety attacks. I take two-three mg at bedtime. I've never slept better and do not have trouble geting up in the morning. I am sure that I am dependent on this drug by now but I would rather take Lorazapam for the rest of my life than deal with the alternatives.
My NP has me on celexa 40mg a day & lorazapam for anxiety attacks. However I can't get a refill on the lorazapam w/out an office call which cost me $124 last time. I spoke w/ her about it & she said it was policy. Now this past wkend I have had clusters of panic attacks even w/the celexa. I don't know how to explain to her so she will understand that I can't afford $124 (with insurance) every time I need a refill, single 30 tabs. I am very discouraged & am "borrowing" xanax and valium from friends.
