OMGosh, I hope I can get an answer quickly about this. I plan on taking it the day I fly out and the day I fly back which is five days later and no medication on the other days. Does Lorazapan cause such dizziness. Is that the ativan and lack of deep sleep or just the ativan? The use of benzodiazepines may have a disinhibiting effect and may release suicidal tendencies in depressed patients. In fact, I think it was a high dose in my past that made mental problems worse. I had some medical problems and was prescribed Adivan for anxiousness. All it did was make me sleepy. I walked around in a zombie-like trance during the day. I stopped it after only a week and found something else that worked better for me.
I began taking Ativan about 2 1/2 years ago after a near mental breakdown. It greatly helps take the edge off of anxiety. I take .5 mg 2-3X day. It doesn't make me sleepy and relaxes me and keeps me from being so snappy and grumpy!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer summer of 2011 and it has continued to help with that anxiety. I am now CANCER-FREE, finished with treatment and living a great life again.
I have been taking Ativan for the past 28 years! Initially it was 0.5mg 2/3 times a day for a few months. Later 0.5mg twice a day for about 2/3 years. Then once a day for 5/6 years. Since then I regularly take 0.75mg once a day in the morning during all these years. I have never exceeded the dosage and I am able to skip the tablet on many Sundays when I don't need to go out or do stressful things. I am sure I will be able to stop taking the medicine when I want but as the dosage is small I have made it a habit to pop 3/4th of 1mg pill daily before I start to office. Side effects - I am unable to distinguish as I am 61 yrs now and have formed some forgetfulness and some usual age related minor personal problems. Ativan is a great medicine!
