I used this as an "abort" pill at first when I felt a panic attack coming on, at .5 mg as needed. However I became tolerant of that dose and was then prescribed 1 mg twice a day. Incredibly addicting, so much so that I felt the need to take 2 or 3 mg just to fall asleep at night. When I wouldn't take one I would have a panic attack. ALSO: put me to sleep. Eventually I made sure that I did not have any more remaining refills and basically holed myself up for a week or so, with no possible triggers for a panic attack, and cut it off cold turkey. Again, can't stress how addictive this pill is.

I take ativan oral for anxiety and PTSD. It has worked better than any of the 9 or 12 they've me in over many, many years. I've been on threes time for 15 years, with no problems stopping when I need to for surgery etc. Lately there's a new black box warning out about this and oxys, but I've been taking them together for years now with no problem... sooooooooo, now my doctor says she can't give them to me anymore so I'm off them for two weeks, and in that time I've slept 2 nights through. I'm on tomazepam which doesn't work much at all. For insomnia, HA!! I've cut way back on the oxys so I can get the ativan back... it's the only drug for me to help with anxiety

Ativan worked very well for me in regards to my sleep anxiety. I would take it occasionally when i had troubles sleeping and would get all worried about it. On average, I was probably taking about 2-3 mg a week. Unfortunately, after about 8 months I started developing horrible headaches, insomnia, memory loss and fatigue. I felt shitty all day long and my symptoms would only clear up if I stopped taking Ativan for about a week. If I took even 1 mg again, the symptoms would all come back. DO NOT TAKE Ativan if you are young (I'm 22) ! Psychological help (counselors, therapists etc.) are much more helpful in the long run and they don't mess up your body the way that so many prescription drugs can! If you are thinking of taking Ativan, I would highly recommend you not doing so if you are young and psychotherapy is an option.
