I have been switched back n forth from xanax to valium for several years, yet everytime i go into the hospital they use ativan. My Dr. finally agreed to let me try it for a month for severe panic attacks n whoa what a diff. I actually feel happy on this medicine n have the energy i need to perform my daily chores. Much better choice for anxiety.
My wife takes .5 mg only when she needs it and only one pill per day. When she has overwhelming anxiety she takes one pill. If she feels ok she will skip a day. It takes 20-25 minutes to take effect and this low dosage returns her to normal. It is very consistent as to when it kicks in. This gives her a minimum of 4 hours of relief. The effect appears to go away after 4 hours but because she broken the cycle of her anxiety she may be better the rest of the day. The reason for the low dosage, taking only when she needs it and only once a day is a fear of addiction.
None, until recently. I began having severe anxiety/panic attacks. I stopped the Lorazepam in order to determine the culprit, if any. No panic attacks since stopping the drug. Seems strange since this is the drug of choice for panic attacks.
I was having panic attacks and this helped to keep me calm without being so loopy lie I was on xanax. I also had insomnia and it really helped.
