Lorazepam works for anxiety and works very well. Thataˆ™s not the problem, the problem is that after about 4-6 months your body will develop a tolerance to the medication which then you must increase the dose. That happens very often! Another and far far worse problem from Lorazepam is withdrawal. If you take this medication (DRUG) for more then 2 weeks you can develop dependency for it. PLEASE PLEASE read and research before taking Lorazepam! It can ruin your life!

I was given two orange tablets of Ativan at the hospital before gong in for an internal biopsy. This was to just take the edge off (although I didn't feel particularly anxious). Pain reliever was to be administered just before the biopsy, except that the Ativan had knocked me out. I had no adverse reaction from this, and waked about two hours after the procedure had been completed. I dressed and my son drove me home, where I went back to sleep until morning. I would lek to know what strength those tablets. I don't know what the numbers were on them, but thought they might be color coded by strength

Hello, I had anxiety issues in the past 4 months which eventually brought me into depression. For the past two months finally I gave up fighting with will/meditation and my doc put me on Celexa. Unfortunately I always woke up at midnight and relied on 0.25mg Ativan to fall back to sleep. 1. I have been on 0.25mg (sometimes 0.5mg) for almost two months now. I read many people said it's very addictive. Can 0.25mg cause a big issue later? How long I can take it before a really concern? 2. Ativan is effective put me to sleep (I took it around 2am). But in many days I woke up with anxiety which lasts till 3pm or 4pm. Only then anxiety faded away. At night especially after I took 10mg Celexa, I can become very calm... Is it something to do with Ativan 12 hr effect? Anyone can share your experience? I love and hate Ativan.

Started having daily panic attacks. Went to ER was given Ativan everything cool. Was Rx'd .5mg once a day. felt ok after.Started having daily panic attacks for 6 months. Was able to sleep ok at night but wokeup with need to take drug. Then the need increased for more which I resisted. Finally found Psychiatrist for withdrawal. He started split dosages and zoloft. In 2 months I felt like a normal human being. No shaking or panic attacks. He said quitting on even this dosage could result in a seizure. He said some people are addicted and don't want to quit.
