I get panic attacks triggered by performance anxiety. I developed this my sophomore year in high school. Just a few months ago I was having panic attacks about my upcoming wedding and everyone watching me while I say my vows. I was scared I would be shaking so bad that I wouldn't be able to put my husband's ring on his finger! I took 1.5 mg of Ativan and everything went perfect. Normally I am unable to speak, choke up, feel like running out of the room, or like I'm going to pee my pants! I was so worried about not being able to say my vows, but this drug worked amazingly well! I have tried Xanax, clonipin, paxil, and welbutrin but they didn't help. Xanax just made me tired, but still anxious. The others did nothing.

I have been taking Ativan for about 5 months now. I started taking it when my mother passed away. It has relieved my panic and anxiety attacks. I started out with 1mg twice a day and are now on 0.5mg one a day at bedtime. It has been helpful, I get very severe panic attacks that usually end up in the ER. But Ativan has helped me a lot. I am concerned about becoming addicted so my doctor suggested, weening myself off of it, by taking it every other night for a week, then every two nights for a week and so forth. He has also suggested I see a Phsycologist, which I do on a regular basis, excercise, and relaxing techniques, such as meditation, massage, accupuncture and Yoga. I am going to try the accupuncture first, then the excercise and then the Yoga. I will report later. It was great reading all the reviews, I hope that my review will help someone deal with their anxiety and try the things my doctor has suggested.
I am dyslexic ADHD plus anxiety & panic attack prone My doc & I decided to try the usual Meds for ADHD symptoms. I tryed the two types & different doses,,I realized that they are not for me cause they add to my anxiety ~~ Lorazapam is the only med that has helped me when a panic attack comes on. Also I have only taken it for anxiety & panic attacks.. I am not takeing it now but at my next Dr s apt I will ask my Dr if he'd RX it for me. It is just now that I feel it could help me as I have been living with sever anxiety for years.. It is just as debilitating as my ADHD is humiliating in the sense that mt experience is most think ADHD is not real or an excuse. Plus I'm an older person and somehow we do not have the priveledge to be accepted with this mental illness as I guess kids are the only ones who are. Anyway I would recommend this fir anyone that could tolerate it if they will take it as RX.. I only take the lowest dose & sometimes just a half of the 0.5 msg. Never thought to take for sleep.. And But I have only taken it once a day when I need it..do not take everyday.. I also take an an anti Dr present. I may need to take a lower dose antidepresent if take this.
