When I get the feeling a panick attack is about to happen, I stick one ;ill under my tounge and within minutes I feel completely calm and no longer anxious. I also use the medication if I drank too much wine the night before (too much sugar), I take one pill and the anxiety is gone. Ativan is though very habit forming and addictive. This medication is worrible it didnt help my anxioty at all it made it worse so i am back top my good old xanax
given l mg of Ativan four months ago with 2 mg delaudid. I quit the delaudid cold turkey. Tried Gabapentin for pain, made me suicidal, then given Elavil which seems to help for pain, Am now on 10 mg of Elavil and l mg of Ativan. Very upset stomach all the time. Wish the doctor had warned me of Ativan side effects. I may have been okay with just Elavil had I understood the drugs at the time. Want desperately to get of Ativan but can't sleep without it.
I have been taking this medication as prescribed/ as needed for over 14 years with no side effects. I have tried every other med for anti anxiety effect (anti-depressant or SSRI or SNRI or Prozac) and NOTHING has had ANY effect in relieving the anxiety. Those meds have actually increased the anxiety and added depression. I have nothing but good things to say for Ativan/Lorazapam if used as directed for decreasing anxiety.
